News From the Road One

It has been a long time since I plugged into "Wheely Thready..." it is nice the blog just sits here in the www waiting for my return. We left home on February 23, our primary destination is Big Bend Nat'l Park in Texas. This is night six and we are almost to Tucson. For us an ideal travel day is about 200-250 miles.
In the first four days we had 2 significant repairs to deal with. During our first night at Valley of the Rogue park in southern Oregon, we discovered our water pump was leaking. We purchased a new one in Medford and Dan installed it.
Siskiyou Summit

We drove past snow on the side of the road on the Siskiyou summit then moved on through a soggy Northern California.
Sacramento River near Sacramento CA plus a faint reflection of the quilt I am working on.

Our third night we stayed at Allenworth Historic park just north of Bakersfield, as Dan drove out of the park the next morning the railroad tracks bumped so hard our table broke off of the wall in the camper. So, our second repair was our table. We found a Home Depot in Barstow where we got the needed supplies to fix the bottom of our table.
It was a rainy day so bed doubled as a work bench.
After repairs were completed, we found a beautiful new to us campground south of Barstow. The place is called Sawtooth Canyon, apparently it is popular with rock climbers.
Play area for young climbers.

Free camping and nice scenery.

See part two for the next little chunk of our journey.
